Concept and Rules
“The Belly’Off” is a Belly Dance gathering and competition for dancers, with no restrictions on style (traditional, tribal and alternative) and level of skill. It
is an open competition for all lovers of Belly Dance.
The competition participants that are in the top 6 by the end of the event will receive a range of prizes, including prize money. The aim of the dance off is to provide a space stage and event for all dancers to show their skills, to be commented on, complimented on and cheered on.
•To participate in “The Belly’Off” as a contestant/competitor and be in the running for prizes and prize money you need to follow the link (APPLY NOW) and complete the form / payment of the application fee. ($50 is the application fee)
•After completing the payment DO email your fee payment confirmation, your full name and stage name, if you are amateur or professional, solo or troupe in detail to be categorised for the elimination round. Please send all info to (dsvision@hotmail.com)
•This event is to be run similar to an art collective and the collected application fees will generate the actual prize pool and be levelled out as prize money for the top 5 competitors.
•May 22 will be the main event date; during the event on the 22nd of May participants will be allocated in sections. After all section performances the TOP %30 of participants will have the chance to perform one more act on stage to be placed in the top 6. (in sections of amateur – professional female/male , solo, troupe)
•The selection criteria will be purely based on the overall entertainment and quality of the individual act from costuming to choice of music. (There is no restriction on the style of the belly dance performance / performer)
•A selected number of people from the crowd with the addition of a few professionals from the belly dance community, entertainment industry and media will be the judges for the event.
•Judging will be done on point scoring. After every act the selected judges will make their decision and award the contestant a number over 10 and that given point will be placed next to the name of the performer/contestant. The top %30 of the competitors at the end of the night in their own sections will join the final segment.
•The final section will run on a similar structure and the top 6 performers/contestants will be the recipients of the allocated awards/prize money.
