Justin Grounds (UK) and Karoshi : Australia Tour

Well-travelled violinist, singer and ‘electro-acoustic visionary’ Justin Grounds is about to embark on a tour of must-see shows in Australia with local electronicists Karoshi to support the release of his stunning new album ‘The Dissolving’.

New album ‘The Dissolving’ is, for Grounds, the culmination of his untamed creative journey, both stylistically and lyrically. Having settled for the time being in a tiny cottage on the windswept coast of South West Ireland, with only a small woodstove for heat and knowing no-one in the entire country, Grounds set up his studio and began to record the songs in solitude, some that had evolved sponta- neously on the endless tours, and others which seemed to appear out of the ether of the barren surrounds he found himself in.

Ray and Dave Davies. Scott and Ron Asheton. Jonny and Colin Greenwood. Don and Phil Everly. The history of popular music is lined with bands built around brothers. Even when they can’t stand the sight of each other, the innate sixth sense allows them to know exactly what to do to comple- ment each other musically. Beres and Dave Jackson can, thankfully, stand the sight of each other and form the nucleus of Karoshi.

Influenced by the classic electronica/folktronica of Modeselektor, Efterklang, Mum, Apparat, and Telefon Tel Aviv as well as the sounds surrounding them in the current Sydney musical climate of PVT, Seekae, Ghoul and Bon Chat Bon Rat, Karoshi embellishes lush and exploratory electronics with chat- tering live percussion and a strong, traditional understanding of song structure, whether with or without vocals.
