The Demon Parade have become synonymous with daisy cutter psychedelic melodies and thundering guitar riffs around Australia as they have played their own headline tours and sold out launches, as well as gracing the stage with the likes of Swervedriver, British India, and the Brian Jonestown Massacre. Front man and lead guitarist Michael Badger was joined wielding guitars last year by former Treetops front man Jordan Speering with sweet harmonies now sprinkled over their reverb drenched licks. Teaming up with Dandy Warhols/Elliot Smith producer Tony Lash, the band have almost completed work on their much anticipated debut album. As such they’re about to treat fans to a new single, ‘To The Mountain’, which sees the band evoking the widescreen guitars of Echo & The Bunnymen and the wall of feedback production of the Jesus & Mary Chain to reveal a startling evolution in their sound. The single is currently available on iTunes and if you’re lucky you can get it for a VERY limited time as a free download at http://thedemonparade.bandcamp.com/
The Demon Parade will be launching ‘To The Mountain’ in Sydney at rock n’ roll ground zero, Tone Venue, on Friday 17th June. Joining them for a massive night are the Go Roll Your Bones, The Preachers and Sister Jane. Opening up proceedings with Ryan Nico, doors open at 8pm and you’d best get down early as this one will be rammed. Avoid missing out and grab your tickets from www.oztix.com.au
“I really like the trancey psychedelic feel to this. The guitars build powerfully through the song. But the vocals are what set it apart. They are strong and not buried under the drone. It reminds me of how a lot of English bands were sounding in the late 80s when The Stone Roses were starting to take off. But this is better than a lot of those acts.”
‘To The Mountain’ Review by Richard Kingsmill, Triple J.
